i have this boyfriend who is perfect! He was always my best friend and hes handsome and he tells me everyday that he will never break up with me, cheat on me, or hurt me because im beautiful <333 I love him but he needs a clue. He always asks me if he can kiss me and i want him to kiss me when im least expecting it... is that too much to ask? But hes always saying okay so u do want to makeout? ok then i willl take u somewhere when we hang out.. . (and thats sweet and everything but i dont want to be expecting it ya know!?)

Catie, how "perfect" is he if you have issues with how he acts toward you? You aren't going to change him. You can learn to accept him the way he is. If you two wind up in a long-term relationship it will be because these issues become resolved...either he learns to be more aggressive or you learn to accept how he is. Either way, this is an issue that time (probably just a few weeks) will solve. Remember, is he really perfect? If so, how much of an issue is this? If this is a very important issue to you, not only talk with him, ask him to rehearse his moves with you. The more he practices the more he'll get into the mood.

I think you're going to have to have a lil chat with him about it. After the next time you make out you can say something like this to him, "Do you know what? You don't need to ask me if you can kiss me. That's because my answer is always going to be yes." I think that would be really sweet and it would make him feel really good about himself. If you want to you can add that you really like when a kiss is spontaneous.

Hi, thanks for the great question.

I think the best way to eliminate this problem is to address in a heart-to-heart talk and tell your boyfriend that him asking you whether or not he can do this or that chills all the romance of the situation and make the whole thing feel mechanical. I am sure he doesn't do it on purpose and is not aware of the effects of his behavior, but your quick suggestion might just fix the whole thing and make both of you enjoy your time together more than ever before.

You could get one of your friend to sorta slip it in like....ya know, whatever your name is likes surprizes. She's always like "I love my bf so much but i wish sometimes kissing could be a surprize." He'll get the pic
