I'm fifteen and yet my memory has gotten so bad that sometimes I forget to eat. If I write things down on my hands, I forget and wash them. If I make a note of things, I never read them (because I forget where I put them). Is there anything that I can do or take that will improve my short-term memory?

Laser, maybe that's it. I don't eat anything that has a heart.

You are too young for Alzheimer's disease, thank goodness.

You may be stressed and have too much to do. Try to slow down and relax. Teens have a lot going on today.

Try doing one thing at a time. Always put your lists in the same place. A routine may help also. If you do your usual activities at the same time everyday it will become a habit and then you won't have to remember to eat, brush your teeth, etc.

Sleep at least 8 hours a day.

Get some physical exercise.

Make sure you eat enough fish and seafood. If your organism has not enough fish oils and iodine, short term memory is severely affected. I suspect that you may have sever iodine inefficiency.

Read the newspapers. Concentrating and thinking about current affairs usually puts the mind in tune with short term tasks frequency, making you less likely to forget basic things like dining.

Do everything you can to stimulate your brain: work crossword puzzles, do things a different way every time (e.g., get out of bed on the other side, change your place at the dinner table, sit at a different place in class or on the bus, park at a new spot).
