Actually, "Faith is not enough" is somewhat correct. Christmas came about when The Church wanted to convert the pagans. They created "Christmas" and utilized some of the pagan actions and symbols to make Christianity more appealing to them. This is why Winter Solstice and Christmas are at the same time. Eventually the origins of what is now called 'Christmas' became unimportant, and modern Christians accepted it for what it is supposed to commemorate, which is the birth of Jesus Christ.
Muslims are very anal about anything with Pagan roots, to start with. There is a saying that comes from the Islamic Tradition (I think) where Abraham asks the pagans why they worshiped false Gods. And they replied that their fathers' did the same thing. And Abraham says "Yes, but why are YOU doing it". Meaning that God expects people to look at their actions and be conscious of what we are doing and why. And that the roots of an action DO MATTER regardless of what the current understanding of a practice means.
On top of that, they aren't supposed to celebrate any Prophet's birthday. It's even frowned upon to celebrated Muhammad's birthday. So why would a celebration with two no-no's (pagan roots, prophet's birthday) be OK?
Granted Muslims can do what they like. But I find most of the Muslims I know that bother about Christmas do it because of social/societal pressure. They don't want to be left out.
Man, doesn't ANYONE actually study history and doctrine? Sheesh! ;-)

Christmas is a false holiday. Jesus was born in summer time. Christmas is a pagan holiday. Jesus never celebrated his own borthday, thus muslim does not celebrate. Jesus was not even born on teh year 0 AD. Please research and find the truth for yourself. WHy would anyone celebrate something that has no basis. Look up solsiste as well. Celebrating the shortest day of the year is a pagan holiday. Have an excellent celebration. Hope you really research this.

Great question! It seems to me it's the jewish people that get angry when you say "Merry Christmas! " or something to that effect...I'm not understanding why THAT is???
I m reading a book on Islam and my ex boyfriend was Muslim....
The reason from what I understand is... that God has no human relatives or relations...Jesus is a prophet but NOT the son of God. So to celebrate his birth is perpetuating a man made viewpoint...not the exact teachings of the Q'uran.

We can. But some people (usually peopel who were never in the Western Countries) say it's celebrating the birth of Jesus (PBUH) (when really it's secular as ever).
We can, (according to Islam QA, a site that gives out Fatawa) however, accept gifts from those celebrating as long as we didn't ask for them (even if you wanted them, but didn't ask).

They can. Anyone can celebrate Christmas, even if they deny Jesus. Christmas isn't a religious holiday.

The muslims believe in Muhammad, and they can't change their religion b/c they will be killed by the other Muslims people....so they can't celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
