In 1991 Saddam Husein invaded Kuwait and raped and pillaged his way through the country. The US formed a coalition to help Kuwait. The coalition went to the UN to ask their support for kicking Iraq out of Kuwait which they did. The coalition made up of many countries kicked Iraq out and destroyed a large part of their army, but stopped short of taking the entire country country of Iraq. The UN imposed sanctions on Iraq to puinish them and force Saddam to stop such actions as this and other atrocities. He didn't and ignored the UN and the Coalition for 12 years and continued his reign of terror on the people of Iraq members of the coalition. He supported terrorism. We went to the UN and showed cause as to why we should be allowed to use force against him. We were successful doing this. We invaded and won the war. We are having problems now winning the peace because of theinfluence of Iran, Al Qaeda and others.
Remember this: Simpletons will give you many simple minded answers to your question, and claim they now better, they don't. They just parrot (repeat) what they hear and seems popular.

Like Chris Rock said: " The C students run the country." Bush did not care and entered Iraq against the will of the UN. The American army supported it and so did the majority of the people. Like so many times throughout history the victors used a propaganda cause for starting the war, in my opinion what started this was 9/11.
Bush is power hungry like his father. USA looks for wars. USA needs more power all the time. If the world was to end it would be because of the USA.

To take down a dictator who was living a lavish life with his party while the other parties in Iraq suffered. Also our intel on his mass destruction arsenal said there was some, which i do believe we will find. Iraq is a very large country to hide things in.

The reasoning behind that has changed several times since we invaded, but I will tell you that we were over in Iraq setting up for war the day Bush was sworn into office, before 9-11 ever took place, am I saying 9-11 was a conspiracy, absolutely not, I do say that it was convienent though, we all know that Iraq was not at all responsable for the world trade centers, that is public knowledge, so, why did we go after them instead of the people that did it? Operation Badger began it all. (Iraqis ignoring the no-fly zone rule to the north of Iraq, imposed by the U.N.) Part and parcel of Operation Polo Step, which was re-vamped many times due to the repeated inadequacies of justice and lack of desire for peace on Saddam Husseins part. Marine General Pete Pace who oversaw this region made a command decision, and correct call in order for world-peace, in this decision.

Hussein was a USA puppet, given financial backing and aid by CIA.

All of a sudden, he's evil and a brutal dictator? Give me a break. Besides, how many times to the politicians have to change their reason? First it was for 9/11, then it was for terrorism, then it was freedom and demcracy, and now it's because hussein is a dictator. What next? "Because we feel like it"?
And as for Hussein invading Kuwait. USA knew about it and silently gave the go-ahead:
Saddam’s intention to invade Kuwait was known to the US ambassador April Gillespie who in fact gave a clear approval by recognising that Iraq’s dispute with Kuwait is an internal matter between the two nation. Many ordinary Americans do not know that Kuwait was part of the southern province of Iraq (Walayah of Basra) for centuries. Iraq has far greater right to claim Kuwait than the US has over the Hispanic territories that it annexed. It was the British colonial designs that created such fault lines in order to keep the Islamic world divided and weak, its gravitas naturally increased after the discovery of oil. The Kuwaiti movement for unification with Iraq in 1950s were ruthlessly hunted down by the Kuwaiti regime with the help of the British.

US is one of five permanent seats in the UN board. It can do whatever it likes even there are sanctions agains the country. These five permanent seats will not have any effect if the UN tries to stop them.Gee...i think Bush invade Iraq because of oil.Another reason is also bad intelligence reports.Bush claims Saddam posses weapon of mass destruction but when they come to conquer, they found nothing and Bush tries to find excuses to make up for the bad intelligence report.
LASTLEY,911 WOULD NOT HAD HAPPEN IF BUSH SPARE A FEW SECONDS OF HIS TIME READING ABOUT THE CIA REPORT OF POSSIBLE TERROR ATTACK WHEN TWO AGENTS APPROACHED HIM WHILE HE WAS PLAYING GOLF.

Saddam Hussein violated UN resolutions, how hard is that to understand?
Furthermore if Bush really wanted Iraqi Oil he could have obtained it the way France, Germany, Russia and China were obtaining it.
No Bush did not go to War for Oil but France, Germany, Russia and China opposed the War because of Oil (free Oil from Saddam in exchange for opposing War).
The Russians are angry because this War actually cost Russia $50 Billion in Free Oil from Saddam, Oil that they could have kept had they supported us in the 1st place.
