Does there have to be an "either-or" in this question? Relationships are based on many things, some of which are emotional and some physical. If there is a genuine problem, sit down with your proposed partner and talk if over. If there is no physical problem but you are reluctant to become physically involved with someone you feel strong emotional ties to, you're making life difficult for yourself. But it's certainly possible to have a strong emotional bond without a physical relationship.

i guess, but theres always gonna be that physical need that will build up to the point where the physical will take over so no. the emotional intimacy is just a the physical's message, if its strong enought then tha physical will build up and get stronger.

If the physical contact is sexual, then I'd say yes.
Just ask any couple that's been married 50 or 60 years!
I will add though, that nowadays, people don't allow themselves to get to know each other before physicality.
