'93 PF, 149,000 miles. I was hearing a clunking sound, then my brakes went out. Found out that it was spraying fluid out near the back pass. side tire. Took the wheel off, turns out that the clunking and the bad brakes were related. Where the rear end is attached to the frame, it has BROKEN OFF. Yes, part of the frame is hanging down, in half. Most of the frame is rusted through...is it time for a new car?

With a vehicle that old, with that many miles and severe rust, it is not going to be cost effective to repair it. You are better off cutting your losses, and replacing the whole vehicle!

Yes let it go. It is no longer safe to drive. And you risk having the rear end oif your car or worse fall off while driving. If you would have rust protected the under body you easily would have gotten 300k or more miles out of that SUV if maintained right. I retired 1990 PF with 350k miles on it. However in California we have no rust issues unless you live next to the ocean. Next car make sure you have under body and frame rust and corrosion protection. If you buy new it is usually an option from the delaers in the states that have this problem like midwest to the east coast. That salt mixture they drop on the ice and snow is wicked.

13 years is your lucky number! Down here in Texas we never see that kind of rust. I think you should not drive that truck any more and do your self a favor buy a new Truck. Hope you will look at the new Nissan offerings.

Give it a decent burial before it buries you and anyone around you when it finally goes.

I think it is time to get rid of that thing. You shouldn't be caught dead in a thing like that. If you had any common sense, you would know the answer.
