I have been having a severe pain in the back of my head for the past week, went to hospital last night. cat scan showed this chiari malformation.
Just wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with this and knows anything more about it?? thanks

Never heard of it. I'm going to look on WebMD..... So should you!! Not to be glib, but "Chiari" sounds quite poetic to me....of course, the "malformation" ruined it. Good Luck to you baby!! ***EDIT*** I've just checked WebMD...There's TONS of info on this. Good Luck once again!!

definite that is totally gentle - certainly one of those issues we had no thought it became as uncomplicated till there have been CT scans and MRI's internet MD is an exceptionally sturdy source. in case you could no longer locate it attempt Arnold-Chiari malformation If surgical treatment is pronounced - get a 2nd opinion. it somewhat is often obtainable that the soreness is unrelated to the malformation - inspite of each and every thing you have had all of it your existence.

yes it can be very mild - one of those things we had no idea it was as common until there were CT scans and MRI's

Web MD is a really good resource. if you can't find it try Arnold-Chiari malformation

If surgery is recommended - get a second opinion. it is always possible that the pain is unrelated to the malformation - after all you've had it all your life.

You should see your doctor and have him/her refer you to a neurosurgeon. Chiari malformation can be quite mild, but should be monitored regularly to make sure it doesn't worsen.
