I'm a cardiac nurse. This still could be related to anxiety, but when it comes to your heart, you need to insist on seeing a cardiologist. They can do a work up with EKG and Echocardiogram (both are painless) to start. Good luck, don't procrastinate. I've seen even kids have heart attacks.

It depends on a number of factors (1) Does this still happen when you have panic / anxiety attacks? (2) How old are you? Age does play a factor. (3) How often does it occur--I know you said,"a few times a week." Get more specific with yourself. Does it happen several times per day and / or at night as well, and how hard are the pains? (4) Does any type of heart problem or GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease) run in your family or have you ever been diagnosed with it? Don't be frightened--I'm NOT DIAGNOSING, I'm giving possibilities to you that only your doc can pinpoint exactly. I know what a doc, according to your explanation, said a year ago. A great deal can change, particularly in health matters, in one year.

While you're at it, heart pains are not normal, and neither are panic attacks. Get them BOTH checked out. Preferably by a more concerned medical doctor...

Has he done other tests, echocardiogram? heart ultrasound? holter monitor? he needs to do those and if he does not, I would get a referral to a cardiologist. The pains can definitely be related to the panic attacks but your doctor needs to definately needs to rule everything out before he decides that it's that so go back and tell him it's still happening and you want tests done to ease your mind.

They can tell if you are having heart trouble by checking for certain enzymes in blood. If you didnt have them, then they are related to panic attacks.
Its not uncommon for people to think they are dying from Panic Attacks (um, thats why they are called Panic attcks)
Give him a call Tusday Morning. You're probably fine.

Here is what I would do if I were you: I would have myself rechecked again "just in case" to reduce my anxiety about the chest pain. There are many things that it could be: Anxiety, angina, gastritis, or inflammation or pleurisy...who knows? It's worth finding out to ease your mind. So, please, see your doctor. Godloveya and blessed holidays.
