Ever finally tell a person you didn't want to be their friend-what was the aftermath-how'd they take it?

Well, I have had my shares-and if they mature-it become at least acquaintances. So, what's your story?

yes i have.. and wow, did they take it bad. even if you tell them nice and sweetly.. which to them might look pathetic.. so, well.. i guess if you're ever going to tell someone you dont want to be their friend, you gotta do it now and get it over with.. later on, you might get into bitter fights but like a few months later, you guys probably wont talk to each other and everything will be back to normal.. except that fact that you dont have that person as a friend anymore

When I have told someone I didn't want to be their friend it was after just ignoring them for awhile. If they still didn't get the hint, I just became very direct with them. I told them why and that I wasn't trying to be mean. Meanness doesn't help because it hurts on the receiving end if someone doesn't want to be your friend. Also, keep it between you and them. Do not blabbermouth to others about why; let them make their own decision.

We were best friends for a year and she had been calling me an inconsiderate, selfish, spoiled brat and other such things behind my back. My other best friend-a REAL best friend-told me what was going on and I finally lashed out at my so-called friend. She's spreading rumors about me and tells me that I need to stop assuming things about her. She wants me to respect her...funny because she hadn't respected me that whole time we were friends. She says she's so tough, but is too scared to say crap to my face. At this point I'm sick of her, it's not worth it.

I will not comfront a person to tell that I don't not want to be friend w/ her any more. It will become a show down that will lead to ugliness, Yuck!! I'll just cool of, but polite, to her..
