Put it this way, Levoxyl does nothing to help you lose weight. Being hypothyroid, weight gain is a symptom. Levoxyl for most does not do anything for weight loss. Are you still having other hypo symptoms?

One thing you can do to stop the weight gain is to make sure your TSH is under 2.0. Far too many doctors will keep it higher and that's why the weight gain happens. My advice to you is to get copies of your thyroid test. Always test in the morning. Learn as much as you can about being hypothyroid, only then will you get the best treatments. There are lots of thyroid message boards on yahoo, I suggest you check them out.

I'm hypothyroid. I started on Levoxyl, but it did nothing at all for my symptoms. I then added Cytomel, which did help some. Later I tried Armour and I've been on it for 3 years now. 95% of my symptoms are gone and I no longer gain weight. In fact, I've lost some and hope to lose some more

I have an under active thyroid. One of the symptoms is slow weight gain and dieting does no good. I've been on the synthetic thyroid hormone and while my weight gain seems to have stabilized, I cannot lose the weight. Plus, whenever I get sick and can't exercise, I still gain a few pounds that I can't get rid of. I've been on medication for 6 years.

It depends, if your thyroid is hypoactive then you are going to be prone to gaining weight. By taking Levoxyl, this should help to regulate your free T4 and thyroid stimulating hormone. Your weight should stabilize within a couple of weeks. Hang in there.

In my case I have noticed that when I have a sudden weight gain its time to see the dr to check my thyroid levels and 99% of the time I have had my dosage changed.

I take levoxyl (the generic of synthroid). If your level is correct, you should not gain or lose weight related to your thyroid. If you're gaining weight due to the drug, you are not on enough....have your doctor check your level.

You will lose weight if your levoxyl dosage is too high. It is dangerous and can cause heart palpatations, irritability, and frequent BM's (speeds up your metabolism).

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tinyurl.im/aH6rT Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour. Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland. Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.
