No. And the main reason is that the 25th december was not the birth day of Christ. It was 11th September according to the correct conversion of the Ancient Hebrew calender to our own. 25th December was a Saturn worship (druid) day called Saturnalia that was converted to christmas by the Roman Catholic church and has no bearing on the real story of christ.
Giving of gifts and Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) was established because a man named Nicholas donated two large bags of money to a poor home to stop the young girls being farmed out for prostitution. So the tradition began...
So no. The giving of gifts is up to you. Also the celebrating. It's your choice. Not a sin. The only SIN you could really commit would be not to love God with all your heart soul mind and strength and your neighbour as yourself. Not just once a year but every day of every year. THAT would be a sin.

A FEW years ago the assistant managing editor of the U.S. Catholic magazine wrote:
“Whereas the true lesson of Christmas is a message of divine mercy and sacrifice, Santa is the front man for greedy corporations, and the tutor in greed for millions of American children. He is the saint of gimme. He has become a total sellout to materialism and greed. He is in the pay of the big toy manufacturers and department stores. A greedy child is never appeased. A spoiled child appreciates nothing. An overindulged child is convinced that the major figure of Christmas is not Christ, but himself.”
This editor thought that Santa should have been left at the North Pole.
Our children, from and early age, knew, and were told there was no such person as Santa Claus, we never had a problem with them. We did not set one day out of the year to give presents to our children, it could be any day, week, or month.

no that would not be a sin. Christmas really has nothing to do with gifts anyway. That came from the idea that the wise men offered the Christ child gifts when they came to see Him. What is sinful is when people replace the celebration of Christs birth with other things, like materialism which is what Satan has turned Christmas into.

At times that is all a person really needs is a hug and a smile. There's more meaning to a hug and smile; besides, not all the money in the world could out do a hug and a smile.

Merry Christmas, REB. Come get your hug big guy. Let me crawl into your lap and whisper sweet nothings in your ear while I stroke your cheek and run my fingers through your long dark hair. I'd love to kiss the corner of your mouth when you smile. That would be the finest gift I could receive. No sin in that. *wink*

No, it is not a sin since the giving of birthday presents is a very pagan thing honoring the diety that resides in one's self. Jesus would not even want to be associated with this pagan day.
However I am pagan and have no problem with gift giving or recieving.

No,
Giving gifts is based on an acient Roman tradition, It has nothing to do with the MAGI bring gifts to Christ. Enjoy time with your family and friends and give the gift of love. Theres probably nothing more valuable you could give anyone other than an oprutunity to accept christ as their savior.

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT GIVING OF THE HEART. SO IT ISN'T A SIN TO GIVE WHAT YOU HAVE TO GIVE. IF ALL YOU HAVE IS A HUG AND A SMILE, YOU ARE SOWING LOVE!

No not a sin but when we forget what the season is all about and surround the season with super presents and super activity I think we miss the point.
