A respondent to one of my questions made the assertion that illegal immigration drives down pay & ruins schools & burdens social services. How could this be when NYC, a great sanctuary city, is in it's greatest period of prosperity & has is once again America's safest big city according to the FBI? (And SF isn't far behind!)

Immigration doesn't lower pay in the U.S. Employers determine pay based upon what employees are willing to accept.

When I was in high school, I worked as a waitress for $3 a day. Why? Because that was the amount the restaurant owners had agreed upon to pay student employees. Could they have hired older, more experienced waitresses? Yes. Would they have had to pay them more money? Yes. Were there prospective employees of these restaurants upset that student help was being hired? Yes. Was there anything they could do about it? No. Free Enterprise. Of course, all student help was legal.

Illegal immigrants are exacting a tremendous economic effect on the U.S. medically, educationally, culturally, and socially. These are the issues the American people need to direct their attention to--not just financially.

Our medical and educational resources are being attacked and depleted by illegal immigrants. In 20 years, with the influx of illegal immigrants, the dominant culture will be Hispanic, and the social epicenter will be the local Bodega!

Whatever economic prosperity you believe New York and San Francisco is experiencing due to illegal immigration will be short lived.

Once upon a time, there were posters declaring "Uncle Sam Wants You". The Mexican government now has posters saying "Mexico Wants You"!

And look at their schools, lovely, huh?

And the highest wages are at the top end, not to construction workers and such.

Sigh. Read this. Not for the 'main character illegal immigrant' but for what her sisters, now legal citizens have to say about, in this case, Los Angeles, a sanctuary city.

50% of children born in NYC were born to mothers on Medicaid. In San Francisco there are an incredibly low number of children.
