Should people detox themselves? Is there really pounds of undigested matter coating your intenstines? Should people try to get there intestines detoxed with herbs? I keep hearing things about this and I would like to know how much is true and how much is myth. Thank you for taking the time to answer this for me and happy holidays.

I've been looking into that for about 18 years now and I've read a load of books on it and mum has two Diplomas in related things. Well, the colon just needs ruffage [fibre] and that takes care of virtually everything. Further, cleaning out the colon, with irregation etc, takes away all of the friendly bugs which deal with things like lactose.

You got some good answers and some bad answers. Here is my input. The colon is the last stop before elimination. You absorb fluids there, you collect toxic waste from the lymphatic system there, and you release all this from the colon. The reason there are people advising enemas and colonic irrigation is because there are people out there who are impacted with undigested foods in their colon. This undigested food sits and rots blocking the release of waste from the body. Now your like a sewer that is backed up. A backed up sewer that is impacted is called diverticulitis. Thats a fancy name for infected pockets of whole food waste in the colon. Do you want this stuff out of your system? You bet. Can you do it yourself? If you know how to give yourself an enema. Fiber won't do the job at this point. Your plugged up, nothing is going through. The enema or hydrocholonic therapy will remove most of the stuck debris, but it will also remove the useful bacteria. Get some kefir and take it to reactive the bacteria. Now let the colon rest for a time. You just purged a lot of waste. Take a couple of weeks and try it again. More flushing, more kefir. Now use the fiber. There are herbal laxatives that help the process but don't take them for a long time. Your system will get lazy. Hope this helps. I've used enemas to purge waste during constipation and colds. When your digestive tract stops working well, your colon gets plugged up with undigested food. time to sweep out the dirt.

First, I would simply anwser you question by saying "yes in deed".

Realistically the colon is the number "one" harmful source in your body_When in fact the colon has a serious chronic sluggeg problem; or when even has billion and billiob of unfriendly bacteria. Nevertheless, among some of those germs are the one believed to cause a urinary track infection in some wemen due to the short distance between the vagina and the anus( of course the main cause is lack of hygiene after having a bowl movement)The fact is that some of germs dies when they come in contact with water. As a result of that they are not going to have a suitable invirement to target the host cell of the urinary system
As a fact; the unhealthy colon will definitely contribute to many health disorder and illness in the long run.And may even causes some mental illness. For instance, like paranoia
And more over will contribute to many mentally condition and some type of cancer.

Unhealthy digestive system may cause all the following problems:
An extreme lack of activities on some individuals,
An significant amount of wrinkle in mem at early age more than women, whereas most of wemen always attempt to cover that skin problem with "make -up".
Sever Insomnia.
Preventing most benificial nutrients from playing the role of healing and protecting the body and some disease(colon cancer)

A good, honest Doctor shall always concern about the colon condition of his/her patient before he/she pursues with some diagnosis.

I guess, some doctor may end up to make less money at some days Or, perhaps they end up looking for a job at home depot "as general manager" in the near future_ if the vast majority of human being star to take care of their health at the level of professionalism and stop saying extensivetly the phrase "My doctor ,mon docteur"

A little hydrocolon therapy can be quite enjoyable.

Your colon is really only to absorb the water and final nutrient from the contents of your digestive tract. You want a good flushing? Try a pint of yogurt (you can mix some spices with it if you like) with about a pound of broccoli. That'll move most things out of the way, and then get yourself a good friend with a liberal attitude and go with the hydrocoloan therapy. Have fun.

The detox and cleansing scam has been around for years and is totally bulls**t. I was once told by one of these guys that your intestines become built up with crud in the turns and it can stay there for years. He tried to sell me some Sodium Peroxide to drink and clean it out. TOTAL NONSENSE.
I happen to have to have a colonscope every two years for another problem and have see the inside of my intestines and they are clean and pink with nothing stuck in the ridges and turns.
If you are unsure talk to a doctor and he will tell you the same or if you are really interested go to a slaughter house where they are slaughtering hogs and look at some intenstines yourself as there is not much difference.

There is nothing crusted inside you.

There is some truth and some myth put out by people trying to sell colon cleansers. See site below for the truth about it. Enemas work better than colon cleansers and you can do them yourself for free. Hospitals do them everyday on people with constipation but they don't think it will magically heal them of every disease. It is a secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event.

My friend got a colonic about 2 months ago, nothing unusual was built up inside her. She didn't feel better or healthier, anything like that. She did it because she was irregular and wanted to lose weight. It didn't help either situation so the lady suggested another one. It seems to be bull to me. I would not worry about it.

I am not a medical professional, but I seriously question those that I hear in advertisements talking about the "pounds of undigested" food inside of you. Serious, wouldn't it just rot and become infected?

I am thinking that a lot of this is just trendy hype to sell yet something more to those who want to waste money to assure themselves they are going to live forever.

i've seen some pretty horrific sites relating to herbal colon treatments! (some sites listed below).
personally, i've not done it, nor have my friends, but i'm keen to give it a go. colonic irrigation is also available in australia. there's a place in byron bay that offers this service. (site listed below).
i think a few people on this forum should try it out & we can compare experiences. :)

I do not think that that is a good idea, just eat more fiber rich foods and maybe take a fiber suppliment that is enough for keeping things clean.
