I have a big thing of beef, an oven, and a pan. How do I turn these into a roast beef?

Please help, I'm a 25 year old single male, I only know how to cook pasta and frozen waffles.

When do you plan on cooking it?

First of all, you need a cover for your pan, or a piece of aluminum foil.

Do you know what kind of spices you like?

If your beef still has the fat on one side, put it in your pan fat side up. This will allow the fat to "melt" while baking into the beef and make it tender. Hopefully from your pasta you have some garlic and some black pepper. If you have a little basil that'll work good too.

Do you know what you like with your beef? If you have a dish you can close (completely covered) I'd suggest putting some carrots and onions in with the roast. If the beef doesn't have the fat on it, use some vegetable oil or butter (not margarine) to to coat it. Rub it into the beef like you're carressing your girlfriend's butt. Put some more garlic (powder if you have it) on the beef. Put a little water in the bottom of the pan, and bake it at 325 degrees, about a half an hour per pound, give or take. DO NOT PUT SALT ON IT, this will make it dry.

I hope this helps.

No Worries... You may need to go to the store though. If your pan is big enough for liquid your good, if not a baking bag (found down the gravey aisle) will work.

The best thing I've found is
french onion soup,
cream of mushroom soup,
or beef broth.
Do not dilute, pour enough cans in with the roast to cover 3/4.

Add any veges you like. (potatos and carrots tend to sog out if they are added at the beginning of the cooking process, onions are great for tenderizing and flavor.)

Cooking Times vary...usually 350 degrees... 3-4lbs. 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Try the link.... it's very informative. Godd Luck ;)

don't panic. Depending on the size of roast if it's average about
1 and 1/2 hours at 350 degrees. Season with salt and pepper.
Leave the fat on the meat that gives it flavor. Check for doneness with an oven thermometer after the hour and a half the temp
should read I believe 180 degrees. Of course make sure the meat is not too rare. GL

roast beef

INGREDIENTS
3 pounds beef eye of round roast
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). If roast is untied, tie at 3 inch intervals with cotton twine. Place roast in pan, and season with salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Add more or less seasonings to taste.
Roast in oven for 60 minutes (20 minutes per pound). Remove from oven, cover loosely with foil, and let rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
Notes

Regardless of the size of your roast, always cook at 375 degrees, for 20 minutes per pound.

Slice thinly and serve with gravy, mashed potatoes, salad and veggie of choice. You can also slice fresh mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, saute in butter, and add to your favorite canned or jarred beef gravy. Be sure to stir in juices from meat before serving gravy.
ENJOY!!!
