I'm glad i bought it really presents facts well, ie the form of hard scientific data. It really provides an excellent case for the fact the global warming caused by human pollution is happening to our detriment. Remember that we caused a massive hole in the ozone layer above the south pole, so don't say that its ridiculous to say humans cannot alter the atmosphere, because we can.

The documetary really shows how the good ol' USA is lagging behind the rest of the world and not following the kyoto protocol probably to their detriment. Things like american car companies GM and ford are on the fall and unable to sell their cars in asia as they do not meet basic anti-pollution requirements.

I haven't seem it yet, but I want to. I doubt my wife will watch it with me. She just rolls her eyes if I say anything that sounds environmentalist. Have you seen "Affluenza"? That documentary really makes me think when I look around at all the things that I have and whether I really need all this stuff or not. Most things are purchased with little thought about who made it or where, and what damage it may have caused to the environment.

I haven't seen it yet either - I'll rent it when it becomes available.

But... I was picking holes in it after watching the trailer!

Mount Kilimanjaro's snow-cap is melting because of global warming, is it? Err? No, it's not actually. Satellite readings show that the temperature at the summit is hardly changing at all. The snow-cap is disappearing because of deforestation of the mountain's foothills.

So why did Gore tell this lie in his film? There are two options;

1) He genuinely didn't know - in which case he's a moron and we should ignore him, or

2) He did know - in which case he's a liar and we should ignore him.

Either way, we should ignore him.

If you want an alternative opinion on global warming, read this... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/11/05/nosplit/nwarm05.xml

And Al Gore actually responded to Monckton's article and you can read what he said, and Monckton's response, here... http://ff.org/centers/csspp/pdf/20061121_gore.pdf

I particularly liked the bit where Al Gore said words to the effect that Monckton should have written his article in a science journal, if he wanted to be taken seriously, and not a newspaper. But apparently a *Hollywood movie* is fine!!!!

Talk about an inconvenient truth. The inconvenient truth is that of the 190 billion tons of CO2 that enters the atmosphere every year, only 9 billion tons, or 5% is man made, the rest is from decomposing biomass, volcanic activity, and ocean out gassing. Also, CO2 is a relatively weak greenhouse gas. The most potent greenhouse 'gas' is water vapor by a factor of at least 5 or 10.

Not all that shines is gold!
And also: mind who is behind the news.

Take a moment to read these two articles:

Because of the comments of qncyguy21 I have added this last link where the names, universities and specialities of the scientists whith their comments on "an inconvenient truth" documentary can be found.

PragmaticBeliever, that article shows the writer has absolutely no clue about ecology, biological systems, or chemistry. it also shows they haven't done their research, but only compiled data that matched the message he/she wanted to spread. It also shows a very real lack of understanding of what gore said, or the sad truth that skeptics will spin anything at anytime to mislead people from reality. that is evident in the statement about Katrina. from the book i have read, Al Gore never mentioned anything about each individual hurricane was going to get stronger and stronger as it approached land. but that is how the article is poorly trying to spin his statement.

as far as Gore's movie, i haven't seen it, but i would like to. I'm sure it over exaggerates a very real threat to make a person assume that is is going to happen tomorrow, even though it will not happen for a while, like all stuff from politicians do. But i am sure it is a great movie to educate people of the reality we face for our over consumption of resources, and our ignorance and lack of willingness to work within natural systems rather than outside them.

It is an excellent movie, photography done well, facts presented well and it needed to be done. Now to get people to believe it. I saw another documentary done in England about 15 years ago on the same topic with the title "2050" . It was thought provoking then, but the photography was not as good. Now we have15 years more evidence. I wish people in charge would realize what they are doing. I do my share to help and to educate the youth, but too many people do not see the problem.

It truly is an inconvenient truth,

If only the cynics would give a couple of hours to watch it, the world might be saved. It was the polar bears drowning that made me think.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie although I felt sad at the loss of our natural heritage through irresponsible use of fossil fuel. If you appreciated this film, I am sure you will enjoy "Who Killed The Electric Car".

Wouldn't bother. I prefer fact over fiction. Gore is a misguided Moron. The Earth has done the same thing every so many millions of years apart. But, like a Democrat he spews his crap to try and scare the He!! out of everyone.
