This phrase is recited by Muslims in numerous different situations. For example, when they are happy or wish to express approval, when an animal is slaughtered in a halaal fashion, when they want to praise a speaker, during battles, and even times of extreme stress or euphoria. The term has gained relative infamy in the eyes of some Westerners, who only encounter it as a battle-cry.
The phrase is said during each stage of both obligatory prayers, which are supposed to be performed five times a day, and superogatory prayers, which are performed at will. The Muslim call to prayer, or adhan, and to commence the prayer, or iqama, also contains the phrase, which is heard in cities all over the Muslim world.
Allahu Akbar (called the Takbir in Arabic) is a shortened form of the Arabic phrase Allahu Akbar min kulli shay', which means "God is greater than everything."

Allah Hu Akbar means G-d is great. Muslims use this phrase to show they believe they are appeasing G-d and doing His will.

They say the same thing when they slaughter animals, perhaps it makes them feel they are not doing evil, i wonder what they must be saying when a shi'iat kills a sunni, and wonder what Allah justifies!

I love how you stereotype, making it sound like they all do. Wait, let me act like you ... why do Christian students go into schools and shoot students, why do Christians blow up buildings in Oklahoma...why are Christian parents abusers and rapists? when they ( TERRORIST ) vidio tape it, they said that word....so the world know that they are carried by muslim religion, well I feel sorry for the muslim...maybe next generation they would say... " In Jesus name...Amen??? They are terrorist....what can i say?
