One of my cat's eyes are puffy, the other is fine. It looks like the eye-lid is swollen all around, I can still see his eye though. Does this sound like an allergic reaction or could be that he hit his eye, anyone have an idea? I worried that it might be something urgent.

If it was an allergic reaction or infection both eyes would probably be swollen. It may have something in the eye or it may have injured its eye somehow.

You should take it to the vet and have its eye looked at. They will be able to numb its eye, see if there is anything in the eye and also see if there are any eye injuries.

Since it is Christmas & unless you want to go to an emergency clinic, you might want to try to flush its eye with an opthalmic saline solution. This may help if it has any debris in the eye.
DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE INTO THE EYE.

If it gets any worse or your cat seems to be in a lot of pain (rubbing its eye, squinting and not doing any of it normal activitites) see a vet immediately.

If the eye is just a little puffy, no discharge, no bleeding, cat can see, and cat is still doing its normal activities - it is not an emergency. But will need to be seen by a vet soon.

Take care & Merry Christmas.

Use a warm, soft, wet cloth and hold it over the eye for a few minutes. Do NOT put anything IN the eye!! Keep a close eye on it (no pun intended) and watch for more serious signs, since this is a holiday weekend. Cross your fingers that whatever happened (he probably scratched it) will start to heal on it's own, otherwise you may need to see the vet first thing Tuesday morning. Using the warm, wet, soft compress may help any irritation. Worse comes to worse, you can try to run some room temperature water over his eye, maybe dislodging a possible foreign body.

Good luck!!

It could be on eof many things mostly just got something in there as long as there is nothing draining out of it it should be ok. try some luke hot water on a washcloth and hold it over the eye it might draw out what is in there. Several of my cats have gotten this and it usually passes as long as it is not pussing up there really is no need to worry if it is leaking yucky stuff take her to the vet

If you cant afford a vet, then clean the eye with clean water and tissue/cotton wool the wipe the eye with a warm used tea bag. It sounds weird but its what ive always done, my mum, grandparents and it works. But if it doesnt go after 2 days then see a vet, my first cat had a similar problem and she had to have antibiotics and eyes drops twice a day for about 2 weeks.

It can be many things.... your cat may have got some thing in his eye and needs it's eye flushed with water. Did your cat eat any thing different or get into any thing that you notice? Did your cat go to the vet. today and get any shots? Has your cat been around any other cats that may have scratched it?

i would try putting some neosporin on it ...i have done this with my cats before actually put a little into the eye it will help especially if it is infected just please do not use the neopsporin that has pain relief in it ...just put a little on a qtip and let it get into the mucus of the eye and if you can try to close it so it spreads through the whole eye it will work

I would take your cat to see his vet because that could be a couple of different things. The sooner the better. Good Luck!

I agree with "tejas" above. Try warm compresses if he'll let you. Watch it for a few days. If it shows any drainage, then take him to the vet. He may have scratched it or bumped it. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

This sounds silly, but our cat was allergic to plastic food and water bowls. When we changed them to glass or crockery, the facial swelling went away.
