Bach / Baroque music for reading / analyzing.

Cannon in D - Writing, focusing.

French Singers (So I don't know what they are saying and dont get distracted)

Since I'm not in school anymore, but do a lot of writing, and programming... Sarah Brightman, Bocelli, Cocteau Twins, Pixies, Enya, just about anything ambient... and never too upbeat, poppy or fast...

I find with anything that gets radio play, beat oriented, or things too lyrically entwined, I sing along, rap on my desk, or want to 'move'... which inherently detracts from the intent to keep my thoughts focused on the task at hand.

During intense thought, I often need complete silence...

usually some jazz or big band... sometimes classical... usually music without words so I don't start singing and forget what I'm studying.

I listen to Mozart when I do math. I'm not crazy about him but it is calming. He's music is said to raise your I.Q. Don't ask me why!!

i listen to rock in general...i think its relaxing although ppl say its crazy...helps to focus
