Cause i would be doing a lot of sending files back and forth to the Windows computers at school...

Yes they are saved in the same format, but just to be sure, when you save, make sure it is a microsoft word 97-2003(4) format *.doc

They are suppose to be compatible. My experience is that Windows can open the MAC files, but I have found a couple features in the Windows version that do not open well on MACs. So if you are creating on a MAC and sending to Windows, you should be good.

yes they are the same, just copy the files across to the mac and continue using the files
