How can i put movies on a dvd or a cd, so that i can watch them on my T.V. using my DVD player?

I have a few movies that are 700mb big or probably a bit less or more. Anyways there in the format .avi i want to put them on a cd or dvd which everone fits but i want to be able to watch them on the T.V. using my DVD player.

try downloading AVI2DVD it's a good program, i've used it before

I'd like to know that myself. The dvd player that I have does not play dvd that are copied or recorded. But I would like to know also what to do about it.
