i have a dig cam and i have those 2 options but i want the best one! 12 bit or 16 bit?

I'll take gentle exception to the first answer. This option doesn't have anything to with bit *rate* but rather with bit *depth*. This describes how many different values can be represented by whatever the depth is for. LIkely, this is for audio. 16-bit sound will have better fidelity than 12-bit, but will take up more space on the recording media.

The bit rate is the quality of the information and signals being transfered. So, the higher the bit rate, the higher the quality. That's the only difference.
