History proves Jesus lived and was a human being, the question is if he was who he said he was. You can say you dont believe Jesus was the son of God but I mean saying you dont believe in him is like saying you dont believe that the year 1993 existed.

Im telling you what I learned in the U.S.A.'s public school system. If you don't like it, tell it to the government. Im not trying to get into an argument about who he was Im just simply stating he was a human being, divine or a normal human being, he existed.

To reply to Chris J:
Jesus was born in Bethlehem so there would actually be records of him there by King Herad (sp?).

History doesn't prove that Jesus lived and was a human being. There really is scant evidence of it.
Check out the movie, "The God Who Wasn't There". It's very eye-opening. Perhaps you'll learn something.

Jesus most certainly did NOT exist.
Through the centuries, the Christian godman has been made and remade. Egypt provided many of the themes and much of the detail. From the age of the Ptolemies, Alexandria was the ancient cooking pot of religious fusion. Here, Hellenized Judaism influenced the early Christians. From Egypt, Catholicism copied its rituals and ceremonies, including relics, demonology, and monasticism. The Patriarchs of Alexandria wrote much of Catholic theology and it was probably in Alexandria that a profound and detailed Buddhist influence impressed itself upon the faith. From Persia, too, came a Saviour God and notions of rebirth, a Mithraic dress rehearsal for Christianity, triumphant in Rome but fatally weakened by its exclusion of women. In Judaea itself, hatred for the Roman conquerors bred a genre of apocolyptic curses, anticipating an end of the world.

Belief in Jesus is a matter of faith. There is no record of his life outside the record of the Christian scriptures as recorded in what Christians call the New Testament. No government agency, Roman or Hebrew, contains record of his life or death. So, if you require cross referenced documentation to believe in Jesus, then you've got a problem. But, if you're willing to rely on faith as your guide, belief should not be a problem for you.

the message of Jesus: (he was a Jew, remember)
the Kingdom of God is within you
the laws and the prophets can be summed up in this: love your god and your neighbor as yourself (love basically and respect)
I believe the message of Jesus was about love, tollerance and change, or challenging the social norms of the religious authorities of the day.
his message was his life: He became the change he wished to see in others
we too can do the same, we too have the power of choice, life and death in us and do not need to seek "god" but just DO and do it with love not hate

in that case the roman empire would have a record of his death..
because Cesar was a meticulus records keeper. but for some reason the writings of Cesar seem to lack the mention of Yaweh(Jesus) in any type of death account, tax record, or birth account.
why is this?

It is my opinion that belief is fueled best by knowledge...Those who do not know the truth..or fail to believe the truth, are just failing to learn. Some choose to argue the facts because it seems easier than reading The Bible and finding out that Jesus is our Saviour. God Bless..Merry Christmas.

Your right. There are PLENTY of NON religious documents that say Jesus was real.
You can believe Jesus existed, but you dont have to believe he was God, or even Gods son.

You are correct: Jesus really did live. There are many direct and indirect references to his existence outside of the Bible such as Josephus and Tacitus.

the Jews did this because they feared loss of power.
others religions do this for the same reason .
private persons do this because they either do belief but don't understand or the understand but don't know how to believe
