The first 48 hours are the most critical for stroke victims. (My Mom had one November 3rd and is still in hospital.) Phone and speak with your Mom to see if he can take your phone call. Follow up in a day or so to see how he is making out.
Hope this helps.

If it was a mild stroke, then it's fine to wait for a few months; but do keep in touch with family members to be certain that he's recovering, and not having any further problems. However, if the situation changes, and he becomes worse, then you should go home right away. Our parents are very important, and once they're gone, can never be replaced. Cherish the time with them, but certainly, don't over-react.

My brother in law had a stroke a couple months ago, within 2 days they wanted to do surgery on him and they told him he may not come out of surgery alive.
You'll have a heavy heart and so many regrets if you don't go. You need to be with him, Europe will still be there when he get's better.

Keep in contact with your family about how he is doing. They will lwt you know if it starts getting worse. I am not saying not to but if you leave to see him and come back then you may need to just go again if things gt worse. I would try and wait a little bit to see how things are going and stay in touch with family.

I think its strange that you would ask us here in this open forum about such a thing. Doesn't the answer come to you immediately?
If you are able to-- then yes.

The right thing to do from my perspective is to go and see your Father. You dont know if he will be alive the next 5 months You must count in everything that may happen.
So Please go and see your father he deserves it...

Thats a moral call that you would have to make. Think of the what ifs?
-What if he didn't make it through another night?
-What if he had second stroke that was more serious?
It's your call.

Our health is NEVER GUARANTEED. It is possible that he will get better and it is possible that something could happen. Would you not want to be able to see him should something else happen? I would pray and see him if you are able. This is a decision that you should make, not someone else for you. Please be careful in your travels.
