If such things actually happened TODAY, we'd have them on digital cameras, cell phones, YouTube, DVDs and every other recording medium known to man, and society would ensure their appearances were archived forever. The result...
There would be ZERO controversy. THE ENTIRE CONCEPT OF FAITH would be POINTLESS. THEISM would instantly become FACT.
So one must ask the question, why don't god or Jesus appear today and perform miracles, which we could easily record and broadcast around the world, thus allowing the entire world to see their power in one fell swoop? People would still get to CHOOSE their god (if they so desired.)
This, more than anything else, is proof that religion, ALL RELIGIONS, were just created by clever men as systems of control.

no matter what Jesus does, people will always have an excuse not to believe. even way back in the day people would see Jesus do miracle and even they did not believe. so if the same thing was going on today, there would still be people who didn't believe.

Actually such things DO happen today but people still don't beleive. I have senn healings, miracles etc. I have cast out devil spirits and ministered healings. I have seen God perform miracles for me many times. I have heard the voice of an angel telling me to stop my car just moments before I would have been killed by a drunk driver. These things are still happening and some are recorded. But people deny them as a hoax, or make light of them, or call it ESP or some such. Anything to avoid believing God.
But having said that, I agree that ALL religions were created by men just as you said. Religion has nothing to do with God.
Only truth has to do with God and that can only be found in his RIGHTLY divided word.

They did it then cause they thought it was fun. People were simple and naive and easily frightened, and God and Jesus used to laugh in their sleeves at the snivelling humans.
Now it's not so much fun cause science can check the miracles, and people have more important things on their agendas.
So God and Jesus pretty much leave us alone. The church people keep trying to get God to perform miracles, but they are so goofy they make both God and Jesus disgusted, and they feel even less inclined to do that stuff.

the reason why miracles were performed because in order for the prophets ,apostles and early disciples to prove that what they spoke was truly gods word they had to do a miracle so great that there was no mistake from who the message came from.for example in john 10:41-44 jesus performs this great miracle so the people would know who sent him. are you really curious to know about gods word or are you just trying to justify your own beliefs without any facts.in this day and age it is not what you know it is what you can prove and you need hard core facts to prove your case

God is everywhere present, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient. Miracles are happening today you can find them in medicine, in Surgeries, in healing of Cancers. They often come through others, in answer to prayers, and will continue with the new technologies as well. Fear not. God bless you.

Yep, that is proof that religion is a control system.
An omnipotent god wouldn't require faith, he would prove himself to us. That is, if he thinks we're intelligent. But maybe the Christians are right, and he expects us to follow him like dumb little sheep.

If God had sent the Prophets now then there would be no test for the humans, all would have to believe. When Jesus returns how can anyone disbelieve?
