Well you can take them off yourself, and regardless of what others have said no it will not ruin your teeth, or hurt yourself, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this however, because after you take the wire off and the things that are cemented to your teeth you will still have to have them cleaned and polished, because not all of the cement will come off, and your teeth will have some discoloration to them, So after all the time and money spent to have them put on, ya might as well have them taken off the correct way !

As someone who had braces, and who knew many teens who did, I URGE YOU TO RECONSIDER! You can cause yourself a lot of very permanent damage by taking them off, yourself. The cement is strong and the wire or individual brackets will come out easily, howevr the cement and other sharp materials will be jagged and really really hurt your mouth. There is likely to be bleeding and swelling and infection. If you really raelly need them off, consult an er or urgent care facility. The best thing is jsut to think it over, and go see the ortho. Even if you have to discontinue care, its better to go one last time and get them removed! :D

A new, good clean pair of plyers. Go to ACE or Homedepot. They make plyers that have a flat edge to scrape off the cement that binds them. Are you truely sure you want tot take them off? If you are "Bucky Beaver", leave them on, more than likely they cost your parents somedough dough

Don't do that. You get the orthodontist to take them off when you are ready. Also, it would not be pleasant and you would probably have the glue all over your teeth.

if you're talking about taking them off completely, don't do it

if you want to mess them up to piss off your parents, chew the gum that's meant for dental work (i think it's called freedent) i tried that thinking it would be safe, but it messed up my braces - the regular gum didn't do anything

Stop being a douchebag and don't.
You paid at least $4000 for them, don't waste this one chance to make your teeth better by screwing it up.
