Most all birds are happy, exuberant little guys, and they love to express their joy of life VERY LOUD. Just go outside one day, and see how many you can hear in 10 mins. I'm wondering why anyone would grab him??? Don't you just ask him to step up, and offer him your finger or arm?? I hope the sound he's making is just because he's glad to see you, and wants your attention!! If so, that is why he makes the noise when you are in the other room. He wants some attention. That is one thing they require a lot of---Birdman

If your bird has only started doing this behavior recently, then there's been a change in the environment such as lack of attention/food/water, too much noise, rodent in its cage or a snake. Birds also like to be in sunny locations, not shaded all day. They are affected by lack of light just like people.

He most likely is crying for some attention. How much time per day do you spend with him? Budgies are very social animals, so if you can't be there to stimulate him 24/7, get him a same-sex buddy that he could play with.

I think it is just expressing his feelings. My birds make noise when they see that there is noise present in my room or if I am listening to music they will sing along. But other than that it is normal. Something can be threatening the bird or maybe he just crying out for attention.

One of the screams means that your budgie is very happy. The other scream, your budgie is saying : "Ouch!" or it can also say it when it is scared.
