Also, how many times a day should we brush our teeth?

I was told by a dental hygienist years ago that once a week was good, but my current hygienist says once a day, even at the expense of brushing. She says that it is not enough just to run it between, but to turn the floss such that you are getting the edges of the teeth.
So, based on that, I am flossing and using Listerine in the morning and brushing at night.
This was advice based on my adult years, but it may not be best for kids.

this is how you floss your teeth:

STEP 1: Take 12 to 18 inches of floss and grasp it so that you have a couple inches of floss taut between your hands.

STEP 2: Slip floss between teeth and into the area between your teeth and gums as far as it will go.

STEP 3: Floss with 8 to 10 vertical strokes to dislodge food and plaque.

STEP 4: Try to floss at least once a day. The most important time to floss is before going to bed.

STEP 5: Floss before or after brushing ' either is fine.

Remember to floss all your teeth, including behind your rearmost molars.

Preloaded dental floss on disposable plastic handles is available for people with limited finger dexterity. This works as well as conventional floss does.

You may experience some bleeding at first. Don't worry; this is normal.

gently slide the floss between your teeth by sliding back and forth (don't press straight down or you could hurt yourself when the floss gets past the point of contact between your teeth), then curve the floss in a "c" around one of the teeth u r between, skip over the flap of tissue between ur teeth and do the same to the other tooth (to reach more surface area) ideally a person would floss after each meal, but once a day is great! once again, brushing after each meal would be ideal, but doing so upon waking and before going to bed is still good.

The earlier you start the better. Get the floss sticks that are pre molded and do it carefully.
