Funny that is what the Russian Orthodox Church says about people who become Jehovah's Witnesses. That they lack any level of intelligence to decide things for themselves, so the state needs to protect them from groups whose teachings do not follow traditional beliefs, such as the observance of Christmas on January 5th.

That study has been replicated several times and all but one study confirmed the findings. The one study was not a study at all, but a pretend one conducted at Liberty University - a hyper-religious institution supported by ultra-conservative Christians. Might one see a bit of bias there? lol So what's your point?

Uh-oh...I better rush to call my son and tell him. My son that has been a card carrying Mensan since age 13...the same son that works in Nashville in the Christian music industry. I need to let him know that he is breaking some rules and jacking with the highly academic research curve by being a genius Christian!!
Ideas and "research" like this just cracks me up!
Being a Christian should NEVER mean you check your brain at the door. Research, study and seek the truth!

Well, in some cases that is true. I know alot of doctors and well educated people that consider themselves religious, but for the most part, I think there are still alot of well educated people who are religious.

No, but seems normal to me for our planet's standards. People that over develop their intellectuality tend to be more inclined to materialism while those that over develop their spirituality can easily become fanatic of a belief or a religion.
It needs a harmonious development of both your mind and your spirit in my opinion...

Here is a parallel view straight from God's word!!
1 Corinthians 1:
18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[c]
20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.
26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."[d]

They could have just read the Bible. 1 Cor.1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.1Cor.1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1 Cor.1: 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

There are several studies on the same phenomenon. They all say the same thing, the lower one's IQ the more likely they are to attach more importance to their religious beliefs.
