It depends on several variables. The number of punches that connect on the opponent, the ferocity of the actual punches, the effect on the opponents face and body, and the impression of one fighter's domination over the other.

Boxing has a 10 point scoring system where the winner of the round retaining 10 points and the loser losing points. In close rounds it's usually the fighter landing more punches that gets the score in his favor, the score is usually 10-9.

If one fighter knocks the other down it's an automatic 2 point round, or if the round is dominate heavily by one fighter who is ferociously beating his opponent, it's a 10-8 tound.

A 10-7 round is also possible such as a case of a fighter being knocked down and losing an extra point for an unsportsmanlike conduct, such as hitting below the belt or hitting on a clinch.

The final score is the addition of all the rounds to determine the winner.

Paula i too am a great boxer the scoring of bouts for me is to eat alot of hot dogs and hit my opponent. If i hit him or her more than they hit me i should beat him or her. I am a coed boxer and should beat more of the women fighters that i fight considering i am a tuff guy. The dogs give me stamina and they are good with mustard and katsup. I hope i win. eh pauly, adrian yo i am taking the dog for a run.

it depends... i know in college boxing it is scored by the number of hits - that is, the number of times you cleanly hit your opponent. Though if you get a KO, or your opponent is bleeding very badly, the match is over and the winner is declared.

Amateur or pro? They are two separate sports and are scored differently. I can tell you how amateur boxing is scored. I haven't a clue about the pros.

By fat white guys who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. Usually biased by the hometowns of the fighters and money their promoter throws their way. So its best to win by knock out.
