Can I please have some advice on handguns for Standard and Production IPSC matches ??? In Standard I have come down to the STI Trojan, Browning Hi-Power MkIII and the Para Ordnance 1911. Alot of people reccomend the 1911 because of the custom parts you can add on but I like the feel of the Browning better. In Production I have come down to the Smith and Wesson M&P, The Springfield XD and The Glock 17. What are your opinions on these guns and are there any really good ones I have missed out on ?????? Thanks

If all the guns fit you well then go with a glock or the xd. This is because you can get lower trigger poundage (if you shoot in the U.S.). I shoot a sw99 in production because of my large hands. Standard is not an American division so I assume you mean either single stack or limited ten. I haven't had time to shoot in the last three years so I may be wrong.
If you meant limited instead of standard I recommend finding a local guy who builds 1911's and have one built in 40 using an sti frame and have him tailor it for you (by local I mean in a 300 mile radius). You will get a better gun at a cheaper price. I love my sti.
If you are shooting in the US. we go by uspsa rules which are a little different than ipsc.
I like the sw99 because of the adjustable backstrap and the fact it is reliable and accurate. I also liked (I don't anymore) a double action first shot. It fits me like a glove. Tangfolio is really trying to serve the ipsc community I would look at them. If you are shooting limited you can make adjustments to the grip so I wouldn't worry about the grip when deciding between the high-power and the 1911.

in the previous picking the firearms, the question that must be replied is "what sort of opposition?" classic? sensible? the two? those weapons you have chosen are quite good, yet do no longer fall into the capture of thinking ".40 5" immediately (pardon the pun) skill an M1911. there are a number of good pistols from SIG, FN, and others which will carry out particularly nicely in sensible/tactical opposition. additionally, have you ever seen procuring a .40 5 with a .22 conversion? that must be constructive in terms of training for opposition and save a sprint bit funds. All that being reported, the Browning Buckmark is quite a important .22 pistol. I even have owned some Browning .22s in my years. i in my view favored the Challenger, however the Camper has shown lots extra suitable than adequate.

Sounds like you already have some great choices for IPSC. I would also recomend the beretta 92/96 family of pistols. David olhasso can set you up with some very nice mods , and he knows whats "legal" and whats not. He also sells his comp guns sometimes. I'm not affiliated with him in anyway other than buying parts for my 92fs. Below is his link. Good luck, -K

If you want to run with the big dogs then be a big dog. Use what the top shooters use and implement their techniques and training.
