So i have white skin but since im exposed to the sun a lot i get very tan. Perhaps more tan than i wanted. Would using sunscreen all the time reduce the tan or is it something biological in me that just makes my exposed parts tanned?

Yes, using a sunscreen will reduce the tan. Just remember to get a sunscreen that is at least 30 spf. Apply at least 15 minutes before you go outdoors and reapply every two hours. In time, your tan will go away. One of the most effective ingredients for sunscreens is zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. When you go out shopping for a sunscreen, take a quick peek at the ingredients because it makes a difference!

And yes, there is something biological that makes your exposed parts tanned. In your skin, there are cells called melanocytes that make melanin (skin pigment). The purpose of melanin is to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. If you use sunscreen, your skin will be protected and will not produce as much of the melanin as you see now.

Hope that helps ;)

Sunscreen will keep you from continually tanning, and it will be good for your skin in the long run.
