Whatever you do, don't make excuses. If/when you do that, when the excuse fades, so does your right to refuse. If you say "I'm busy, " then they will wait until your schedule frees up, and then approach you again. It's best if you just simply tell them that you are a private person, and don't really enjoy the things they do. I used to have your same problem, my coworkers always wanted me to join them at the bar to hear live music. I dont' like to mix business and pleasure, nor do I enjoy live music at the bar. I finally realized that simply telling them that I really like to do solitary things on my time off, really helped them to understand that I would probably not ever join them at the bar. They were not offended, they understood my passion for photography, books, other friends, was very important to me. Boundaries are important, you may establish them w/ out explanation and w/out feeling guilty.

You have a working relationship, you do not go out ot lunch with them, you do not invite them for after work engagements and you decline their invitations. Have a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year! God bless****

Tell them you on't mix work and pleasure. I used to and got burned a few times, now I have friends inside work who aren't friends outside of work and they don't know my personal business.
