1) Dogma filled presidents can campaign saying atheists should not be considered citizens or patriots (GHW Bush, 1987)
2) Tax money goes to so called 'social' organizations that bar atheists from membership (like the Boy Scouts)
3) Seven states still have laws preventing Atheists from holding government office (I live in one, Texas)
4) Belief in the Genesis mythology requires either intellectual or moral disfunction (the first two chapters don't even give compatible much less coherent explanations)

Those of us in the USA (America is 2 continents, with no consistent political structure across the whole of them) are not encouraged (legally) to enjoy anything religious, as this would be a violation of the "'wall of seperation' between church and state". as per the opinion of US Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, Everson v. Board of Education (1947). History has been misrepresented to forward the idea that this nation was founded on Christianity. (1) Freedom should be constrained by truth, not used to impose the guesswork of desert nomads on a 21st century population.

Just because we deny something, does not mean that thing does not exist. We may say that the sun rises and sets. We can see this with our eyes. Education helps us understand that the son does not rise and set. It is the rotation of the earth around the sun which creates this illusion.
We were all created with a soul which wants us to have a relationship with God. Our free will determines if we go according to our natural plan and have this relationship. Atheists may deny there is a God. This is their free will. But they can not stop their soul's natural desire to be united with God. Nor can their free will stop God's desire and attempts to have a relationship with them.
Hopefully the atheists experience on this web site will help them in a positive way to come to this understanding which will enable them to accept God's desire to have a close relationship with them.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Aside from legit and smart atheists (there are some) there are a great number of average teenagers here who have discovered the bad fun of jerking the chain of Bible believers. It's a childish reveling in the naughty, for these individuals, like making crank phone calls while mother is away still is to many.

If you haven't noticed, several questions are directed towards atheists. Some are very interesting and thought provoking. Until they provide an Atheists section under Society and Culture this is where we find questions relating to atheism. Also, we have had to deal with the casting of stones and we like exercising our right to defend our beliefs. It can be reaffirming and entertaining.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us. By the way, it is spelled A-T-H-E-I-S-T.

No, I'm not looking for the stuff you have, but I am tolerant of you. I do not condemn you for being goofy, but I do like to ask questions about the weirdness of the Old Testament God. Jesus, he was more sensible...

-- And you know the really ironic thing in all this is: you church people, your religion is nothing like the religion Jesus had.

Because the Devil made them do it!;) Because they know they will strike a raw nerve! Because they are hoping that someone will say something they will consider un-christian like so they can shake a finger at is and judge us.So that they can say we are judging them. So they can set us straight. I really don't know. I suppose to start a debate. To see how much we really know.

Being an atheist doesn't mean you don't have spirituality. Look at the Buddhists--atheistic religion, yet a very rich spiritual life.
