Hello, I enjoy alot of coffee, tea, and cokes. I used to smoke as well, the black tarry stuff if all the nicotine built up. Try putting baking soda on a wet tooth brush and brush your teeth. It might be a little sensitive. I use this method to whiten my teeth...hope it helps you.

for the stains, if you cant cut back on coffe and tea or smoking, you can get over the counter with teeth whitening bleach. there are lots of products out there, from gels to pastes, to strips. i would not recommend the strips, because the whiten the flat surfaces of the teeth, and not so much the interproximals(the curved surface where one tooth touches the other). the paste that gets brushed on, gets washed away quickly by saliva. the gels work the best, but can burn your gums because you have to use the mouth gaurd looking thing they put in the box, and covers part of your gums. what i've done, is had a custom bleach tray made at the dentist, and instead of going to the dentist all the time for refills on bleach, i buy the over the counter gels. the downside to bleaching your teeth, is that it breaks down the enamel, and causes sensitive teeth, and eventually your teeth can break or decay more easily. as far as the black stuff between your teeth, its probally calculus (hardened plaq) that has become stained from the smoking, coffe, and tea. it can be removed, but only by a dentist or hygenist. it could also be decay, but only a dentist can tell you that. its probally best to go to the dentist in either case. if teeth whitening or cleanings from the dentist wont help, veneers are very good, and last a long time.

I am not sure what the black stuff is but to help with your teeth being stained you can use a straw when you drink tea or coffee. Also, you can brush with baking soda or use a product like Crest Teeth Whitening Strips.

It is probably nicotine which is sticking to the tartar/plaque between your teeth (plaque has a sticky consistency). Obviously, quitting smoking would be the best solution but a professional cleaning from your dental hygienist should help a bunch. A more abrasive toothpaste may also help.

Try the "Listerine White". After you toothbrush, use it. If nothing happens, consult your dentist about the problem of your teeth... Goodluck!
