Luke 14

12Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

I also got this from the Bible:

5:8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

My husband and I would always invite our neighbors or acquaintances that we knew had no where else to go for the holidays. We would have quite a mixed bag--one year, a biker, a vietnam vet with post traumatic stress syndrome, a young lady who was not on speaking terms with her family, another couple whos parents weren't doing anything for christmas. It was so much fun, that was the best one of all. I would still do that, if I could afford it.

I think not, it kind of shows how people cannot reach God's expectations, thus showing us that we need to confess our sins.
