I think I am sleeping funny but it seems like every morning I wake up my hands are kinda numb...occasionally if I keep them elevated a lot too...is this just normal or should I look into the possibility that it could be serious?

The hands are innervated from nerves that run from the spine through the neck to the hands. Any obstruction along the nerve path can cause the numbness you are describing. Also if you have carpel tunnel (swelling around the nerves in the wrist) that can also cause numbness in the hands. Most doctors would start with x-rays to see if the spinal canal is too narrow. Go visit a Doc, but don't expect quick answers.

It sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. It comes from doing repetitive tasks. And from heavy computer usage. There are splints that a person can buy from the drugstore that help by keeping the wrist immobilized. You can use them while working or at night while you sleep. If they don't help, go see an orthopaedic dr. they'll have some other things for you to do

Could be carpal tunnel syndrome, which includes compression of the nerves in the wrists that then causes the numbness and/or tingling in the hands. I get numbness in my hands the following morning after working on my computer late into the evening.

See your family doctor or health care practitioner if it persists.

I'm a nurse. You are not getting enough oxygen to your hands when sleeping. Try to find a different way to sleep to prevent this. It's not serious but can become irritating to you. But it's from a lack of oxygen to your hands.

You might have something pressing on a nerve! You could have a doctor check it out!

It could be carpal tunnel syndrome which is easily treated.

I recently had the tests done, but my problem is further up, probably in the neck
