To take the bite out of something too hot, add fat to it. So you could try adding butter.

I suggest that you rinse the vegetables in a collander with hot water, place them back in the saucepan you were using and add your syrup (if any is left) to them. It should remove the excess pepper.

Rinse all the vegetables with warm water, make sure everything's cleaned off, then run ice cold water over them. Redo your salad. If they're cooked, this won't work. It will only work if they're raw.
