Spicy food, pepperoni, and anything containing peppers. Its the oils and acids. And they don't digest well. Hence the coming back up part.

Acidic food are likely to cause heartburn. Like Orange juice, tomatoes. I have found that food that digest too easily, like candy. it seems to get my stomach already for food, so it produces acid but Little digestion is needed so I end up with heart burn.

Spices can cause heart burn too. Many spices are toxic in larger doses so I assume many of them are hard to digest period.

Take it from someone with extremely bad heartburn who is on a very bland diet. Anything that is spicy, acidic, greasy, or oily gives me problems. I hate it this very much because all of the foods I love to eat I cannot or should not have.

It doesn't have to be acid, just over eating alone can push stomach acids up into the esophagus and cause indigestion or heart burn

It depends on your own digestive system...some people can eat hot stuff without heartburn. And it not that it is acidic because tomatoes are high in acid but don't necessarily give you heartburn
If you have an ulcer you must eat a bland diet

Mostly acidic foods. . . Citrus, tomatoes, etc. . .Or also spicey foods can cause heart burn. . . I've also heard some people say that some things which are overly sweet can also do it. Things like raspberries, which are very tart and sweet, or chocolate, etc.

Oily, spicy, acidic... or even when eating too much cos too much gastric liquid (acidic) produced to digest foods... it will cause heart burn too.
