I'm an American Muslim and most of the time I do, but it can be hard, because I have a lot of cultural biases to deal with; especially over here in Saudi Arabia. Still I hold my head high and carry on.
The culture is nothing like the religion, nothing at all.

YES!!! DEFINITELY!!! You MOST CERTAINLY can. See, consider the way that women are treated allll over the world! Especially Muslim women. It's ONLY traditional (I do understand and have proof that many religions, in their original form, have a lack of respect for women, and if anyone wishes I name those religions, I'd not mind doing so! But I know for a fact that Islam is the religion that holds women in the highest esteem possible.... thankfully, and that explains why 75% of the people who convert to Islam are WOMEN...) But going back to the question,so the way that women are treated is SIMPLY TRADITIONAL!!!! It has NOTHING to do with religion. Think about the reputation that a divorced woman or a widowed woman.... Do you think that a religion would allow for the society to treat her so harshly????? (At least Islam doesnt allow for such an unfair treatment of divorced/widowed women!) It's not her fault she's a widow or is divorced! Then think about racism, as another example. I don't know about other religions, but I know for a fact that Islam prohibits ALL sorts of prejudice and racism. Why do some people consider themselves superior to others? Who knows? It's all myths! No race is superior to another; it's a traditional belief of some nonsensical wrongdoing group of people. So again, religion and culture have NOTHING to do with each other! Maybe they should, since whatever religion you practice SHOULD be your way of life... but who know how people live today.
Peace.

Yes but I recommend going with your culture. Honour your culture and where you came from. We all have genetic memory to some extent and it may make you feel more grounded.

I follow Celtic Paganism, primarily Druidry, and am also a Catholic. I wouldn't, I think, feel as good as if I was practising an African religion, or an Eastern one, neither of which I to my knowledge have any ties to.

Hmmm. well 1st I'd have to get honest and identify my cultural biases. I have travelled all over the worls and found beauty in many cultures......sorry I have thought here....G-d loves them all and so do I. I am not aware of cultural biases...I know north americans have more stuff but that is just fact, not makes us better

My religous beliefs are those of the Bible, not feelings.

Can you re-post this with some specific "cultural biases" in mind?

No. It is called your Worldview. It is the life lens you look through. The only way to change is to change your religion, but then you will still view all things through that religious lens. ALL people do. There are only 3 core religions, Theism, Atheism, Pantheism. Everyone belongs to one of these worldviews and that is how they look at the world. No escape, but many try and yet fail and still fall into one of the three.

I am a Jew that came to know Jesus as my savior and best friend-that is like saying reject your best friend and think -Jesus said to love everyone heart and soul-so where is room for biases to Him all are equal and equally loved-even if they live in blindness of religions.

definitely. at least i hope so!
i grew up in an international environment, so i'm pretty tolerant when it gets to accepting other cultures.
i was spiritual all my life, and became religious only recently, and so far i can separate my religious feelings quite well :)

depends on what religion you are...but it's easy to get the two mixed together into one and it is very wrong to do that...because culture is man-made but no just that you are giving your religion a bad name... but i think you can, follow religion and not culture :D
