Is anyone stressed out because of the inlaws??? I think we should start a support group!!?

I have a very selfish to be sister in law and his mom and dad are not as bad but they are still adjusting to all the changes. My family on the other hand is supportive of our decisions and also respects them, so at least we have that. Its just so stressful!! Feel free to comment about the subject!

Dont worry there already is a support group, www.ihatemyinlaws.com its great i go there my inlaws are the worst people you could meet, and this site helps better the situation at times when you see how other people are doing it. Good Luck =)

I can sympathize with you, I had in laws completely destroyed my life and the lives of my children many years ago.
As a young mother I found it impossible to separate my young nonsupporting husband from his dominating mother controlling his life and now mine and my children.
I at the age of 21 got the courage to make a stand and to leave this man due his laziness and being in slaved by his dysfunctional mother and family ,after 5 years and 4 children later I had had enough.
I was on my own and very much at risk from the time that i and my 4 kids fled from them till the horror came to me the day my two oldest sons were riding their bikes after school and my neighbor came and told me that a man drove up in front of her house,forced my sons off their bikes and drove away.
For 10 years I searched to no avail to find them and their kidnappers. I wasn't even sure if their father was behind this. A nightmare that lived on until finally with the help of an aunt my oldest son found my mother and we were reunited . My twin sons that were too young to remember met their older brothers for the first time.
The sad est part of this story is that these two boys that were kidnapped were also torn apart from each other by this controlling in law mother and spent very little time with the father in question.
The damage done is irreparable and the time lost is unreplacable
All we have left of this distruction is to thank God that we are all alive , well and intouch now that they are grown and away from the inlaws.

My view is that you don't just marry the person you are in love with, his family and what ever else is part of the package, especially if your partner is close to his family and what not.

If there is some thing about his family that you don't like, it is best to think things through in a prudent manner as over time in laws can break up a marriage.

If there is some thing you don't like think about it before you regret going down that road as some in laws can drive you up the wall. If your relationship is an interracial one, this can be a challenge in beliefs and customs and the offspring of such a relationship being pulled in two directions.

I know of some friends of mine and the in laws have a key to their house.

My inlaws are here in the house now. They can be a lot of fun actually so I don't mind them coming to visit at all. It does help that my wife and I are on our home turf and are more comfortable during the visit.

I'm volunteering to be VP of the group! My MIL has lost her mind lately and I don't talk to her anymore. It's sad because we have a baby due soon but she is acting like something right out of pyscho!!

welcome to my world. my sister in law is the biggest drama queen and nobody is as pretty as her etc. my in laws are snotty rich people who everytime i'm with them they say something that just appalls me. i choose not to be around them because i don't want to be and that's reason enough for me.
