Is the picture as bad when you are watching ordinary "analogue" TV, through the aerial? If so then there is unlikely to be any noticeable improvement by replacing the SCART lead.

I think the picture quality on most HD-ready plasma televisions is absolutely AWFUL: really saturated colour and motion artefacts all over the shop. I cannot believe that ordinarily sensible individuals are parting with huge wads of cash for a telly that gives a worse picture than our 1970's Ferguson Colourstar!!

Consequently I'm going to keep my money for another year or so and wait until the technology has improved, demand has gone up and the price has come crashing down... if you can take yours back and get a refund I'd suggest you do the same!

This time next year you'll be able to buy three televisions for the same price you've just paid, and the picture will be better on all of them!

Merry Christmas!

For HDTV you also need something that transmits HDTV signals. You can get an HDTV skybox, think it is about £10pm extra. Then there is blue ray and HD-DVD but these players are expensive. Cheaper otion would be to get a blue ray drive for an xbox 360 or get a PS3 when it becomes available.

HDTV also uses a different cable to SCART called HDMI.

You may also get a better signal by using s-video cable instead of Scart. this is a small round connector on the back of a DVD player

Have read that the cheaper scart leads are not very good for the bigger screens & the gold plated more expensive leads are better, hope this helps.
