who, in your opinion, were the top 3 greatest racing drivers of all time......you can choose from the likes of Ayrton Senna, Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Juan Manuel Fangio, Gilles Villeneuve, Nikki Lauda, Alain Prost, Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jacky Ickx, Dan Gurney, A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, or maybe rally drivers like Petter Solberg, Marcus Gronholm, or Walter Rorhl, there have been so many greats.......these are some of the drivers i'd consider....how about you guys.......who are the greats to you?

Your question will confuse all the adolescents on here, the ones who don't remember anyone before Michael Schumacher. Having said that, my top three, and in no particular order, would be Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss and Jim Clark. Honourable mentions would have to go to Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt and Ayrton Senna.
I stood beside Fangio in the paddock at the 1987 Brazilian Grand Prix at Jacarapagua; he had just completed several demonstration laps in one his championship-winning cars and was holding a media scrum for a small number of Spanish-speaking media. I don't speak Spanish and I don't collect autographs, but I'll always regret not asking him for one. I met his nephew at Mid Ohio, when he was driving in the old ARS series; unfortunately he didn't have the same talent as his his uncle.

That's always been a very tough question. The difference on car technology, track conditions, safety improvements which would have saved the older drivers lives and would have given them a better driving record, and different rules. But most anaylst do agree that the older drivers would have had an easier time driving todays racing cars as compared to the illhandling overweight cars that they were used to, as opposed to today's drivers chauffering the older cars. Thus to really be fair, 3 drivers would have to be picked from each decade.

If we are talking about vintage motor racing, I think that some of your list are not to be considered (Ayrton senna, Alain prost, Solberg, Gronholm...)
I propose you these ones: Vic Elford, Brian Redman, Gerard Larrousse. May be ones of the best during the 60s and 70s rallying and racing (long distance races, Formula one...)
