Here's the problem; when I meet fellow nerds-I'm friendly and pleasant,& and we talk about whatever their particular interests(s) are and we're cool-but they usually get freaked out w/the business/extrovert stuff. When I meet people who are "suits", they are cool with the looks & the business stuf, but they don't like my films, art, music,& zombies. What's a grown-up nerd to do?

I have to disagree with the statement by Tee. You should grab life by it's horns. If all you are going to do is sit there and listen, and let other people talk, then you're setting yourself up to get walked all over. Stand up, and dare to piss against the wind. Finding a significant other is hard enough for anyone. Why? 'Cause people are more absorbed in building walls, then making connections. If you like Art and Sci-Fi, meet up with some peeps that like the same stuff.

You don't have to share everything with everybody. When meeting people do more listening to what others like. Don't talk a whole lot initially when meeting people. Don't talk about yourself a lot because everybody is not ready for you. You have a lot going on and sometimes people are apt to judge you like you may be trying to come off as all that. Chill out and do more listening.

I considered my ex to be a "grown-up" nerd because he was into computers way more than what is normal.......meaning he would rather sit at the comp and play EverQuest than to come to bed and play
