I think you will be put on probation. You will get convicted, there is now way around it. Trying to avoid the conviction will only piss off the judge. Plead guilty and accept the diversion.

Work hard on ensuring that you are NOT convicted. Convicted crimes are NOT expunged from your record at 18. They may not be used to determine eligibility for some civilian jobs, but for federal, state, public trust, county, etc I assure you they will be there and used to determine your eligibility. Work on ensuring this doesn't show up. Accepting diversion is the same thing as guilty. Good Luck and keep you hands in your pocket next time.

If it was a first offense, you may get community service or some other slap on the wrist. If it wasn't your first offense, you may want to pack your bags before the meeting, since you'll get to go live at juvenile detention. In any event, unless you are in one of the more progressive states, it will be expunged from your record at 18.

Due to your age the States Attorney may submit your case to diversion. You may get a fine and communtity service and/or probation. It sounds like you are a good candidate for diversion, you should request it. Have you already spoken an Attorney? If not you should, he could request diversion for you. That way no permanent record will result. Good Luck.

Since it is your first offense and based on your age, you will probably quality for a diversion, offered by the court designated worker. (if you comply, seem to have learned your lesson and keep a respectful attitude) A diversion just means you will have to provide community service and as long as you complete it, you won't be punished further. Good Luck, hope you learn from your mistake!

When you shoplift you are taking money away from somone elses pocket. If someone took away money from your pocket, how'd you feel, even if they took $5? It's just not right.....and if everyone in the world shoplifted, we'd have total social chaos.
I know you won't do it again. Merry Christmas.

I was never "caught" but i lifted a lot when i was younger , never now. i think it's really more important to examine your thoughts on why you steal , i thought it provided a rush and made me feel superior toward those i stole from , its really garbage that you were taking , but why?
