Doesn't matter as long as your PC still recognizes your mp3 player.

OK claim down. Take a deep breath and DON"T PANIC.

Can you read and write to the disk and does the player work? yes

Then did you format the player? yes then that's what happened.

No to first question.

Try the player in a different computer, if it still doesn't' work then you have a error with with player or the cable.

no to the second question.

Did you do any updates? To the computer or player? That may have caused it.

Normally I see this when people format their player to get rid of a bunch of mp3s at one time. On some older player that kills the player too, had that one happen to me with my first player, it was really old.

As long as the player is working, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Hope it helps.

EDIT

So it does play, right?

Check to see if you locked it. There should be a button or switch somewhere to let you lock the mp3 player. It'll keep you from deleteing anything on it, and it might depending on which model you have keep you from playing it.

Let me know what model and I might be able to be of more help if you cann't find the switch or button.
