our soldiers have more of a chance of being killed in our own nations capital from violence than in iraq, ive seen this line reapeated frequently especially at freerepublic.com .also i feel freerepublic.com is a very reliable source because the people who comment there are intelligent and seem to have a knack to tell it the way it really is unlike the disease called liberalism that preaches surrender and collusion with the enemy

That might be true statistically though I think that by stating that you are a neoconservative you jade your own question. It might be better to note that the violence in Iraq is mostly between Shiites and Sunnis Muslims and US soldiers get killed are trying to stay in the middle. So many are killed at checkpoints which are set up to keep the various sect militias from attacking each other. But when you claim to be a radical on the right and attack the radicals on the left you have to understand that you and they are really just small groups in this country and you tend to X each other out in elections. While Dems are the majority, the majority of Dems are not liberals (labor is a good example, Catholics are another) Dems elect Repub Presidents as we did with "W" because the Dem candidate was too far to the left. Moderates rule, not libs or conservatives. Most of the Dems elected in the past election were not libs but moderates or even to the right moderates. Its not a bad question but you made it into a radical political statement. Hillary does that too. Most Repubs are not conservatives they are more often moderates too. Thats why nothing changes much in Congress no matter who is in power. No outlawing of abortion with total Repub control, no outlawing of guns when Dems are in control. Its a moderate country, you should consider looking at issues that way.

I was employed in Iraq during the year 1950 helping survey the desert between the Syrian border and Wadi Thata, this area is shown as Ambar Province in news broadcasts. The people in the area were very cooperative and assisted me in my work. The village of Haditha in West Iraq has been in the news recently, due. I trusted my life with these people as did other crew members working with Robert H Ray exploration. based then in HoustonI should say U.S.troops in that area are safer than in D.C, I am English by the way.

Your mind's made up, we won't confuse you with facts.

I looked at freerepublic.com, and it doesn't seem as biased as, say, Fox News, but I noticed there are sort headings for "homosexual agenda", "pro-life" and other such conservative-favoring buzz words in its sort engine. Doesn't seem a bad source for general news -- though most people should consult more than one source. Try to think for yourself, including evaluating what you read online for possible bias or selfish motive. Good luck.

For Marines headed to 8th & I, you may have a point. Most others, I think, would have a much more hazardous undertaking: They're likely headed to the 5-sided puzzle palace, where a Lt.Col. can enter and never be heard from again. Shooters on the street are nothing next to the bureaucracy.

Get your facts straight. There has only been one MPDC officer killed in the line of duty in DC in all of 2006 and only 5 since 2004. Considering the thousands of soldiers killed in Iraq, I would think that DC is MUCH safer.

Please don't believe "all that is on black and white" In DC we don't have car bombs or beheading, suicide boomers nor those the US poison individuals that don't agree with their political views. Yes, we have Lot's of government corruption (Hilbert gov. contracts) but there is no persecution towards the population.
Note:
All political party's spend the tax payers money for their amusement in the name of the "people" but some are just worst the others.
I'm a republican and all I can say is that you need to do a little research (not watch TV).
