Doesn't everyone go into war thinking they are going to win?
So then each side believes they are right? God is on their side, so how do we know which side God is really on?
Both or all sides believe in Genesis 6:13 before the flood of Noah's day God looked down and said the earth is full of violence because of them, so I am going to bring the earth to ruin because of them. So doesn't that mean he hates violence?
So if we are really on the side of God would we be fighting in the first place?

The common man in most any country doesn't have a lot to say about whether their country goes to war or not. If they don't have much access to the outside world, they are brainwashed to think whatever the leaders want them to think. Actually we get a lot of propaganda here in US also. Its sort of too late because we've had freedom and access to a lot of information for too long. But back to the subject, leaders of a people start wars mostly because of power, greed (oil), etc. The every day Joe doesn't have a lot of choice.

You are right, Louis, God hates violence. Even as we read at Psalm 11:5. God even hates those people who love violence. And yes, according to the Genesis account, the earth was filled with violence and this is why God brought the flood. Given your line of reasoning, then, how could God possibly be on a side of any group carrying on violence?

God is not on the side of violence. And lest anyone introduce the wars that were carried out by the Israelites as proof that God does take sides, there is absolutely no parallel between the holy wars carried out by the Israelites and the carnal warfare that takes place on the earth today.

So, where does that leave those who instigate, encourage and take part in violence? Not on God's side.

God also directed the Jews to go to war many times over according to the Old Testament and according to our President, God told him to attack Iraq. We never know what God wants in terms of on a whole world view. We just have to accept that all things are as they should be. If God wanted to stop it, he would. This doesn't mean that he approves of it or is on one side or the other. Did you know that Muslims also follow the Old Testament? Abraham had two sons, Issac and Ishmael. Issac gave birth to the Jewish nation and Ishmael, Islam. So, the two faiths came from the same source, which is also the source of Christianity.

Unfortunately, there are many who do not want peace. They have been brainwashed from birth by a false religion, to believe that killing as many as possible who do not believe as they do is a great and wonderful thing. They do not care about winning, or living to enjoy peace afterward. They care only about killing, because that makes them a hero or martyr in their culture. God does not take sides in the wars of mankind, since neither side has pure motives. God has his own side and when Jesus returns to set up his kingdom, he will not take sides. He will take over.

1John 4:8 states that God is love. Would a loving God approve of war? Would a loving God takes side of certain countries, but care nothing of the others? God is the creator of all things. We are his children and he loves us all the same. ( if you are a parent of more than one child would you care more for one than the other? would you be happy if one was killed?) NO you would not. God is so much powerful than we are, and desires all to live. He does not approve of killing by any form. Psalms 46:9 "He (God) is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth the bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces; The wagons he burns in the fire.

Not everyone desires peace. Quite the contrary, too many people desire wealth and power, which leads to warfare. Jesus told us that there would always be wars and rumors of wars. There is nothing new under the sun.

True, but violence is sometimes used to suppress violence. There is a difference in murder and killing. Murder was happening during Noah's time.
