yes... when you run on the ground you have to propel yourself.

Wow, 10 miles in a hour on the treadmill is pretty fast! Treadmill running is easier because you don't have the wind resistance, Normally you are supposed to set the incline to a 1 or 1.5 percent grade to simulate the wind resistance. For some reason you tend to have a shorter stride on a treadmill so be carefull when you do your track workout. Remember also that treadmills are not always accurate, and they are also easier on all your joints because of the built in cushioning.

Good luck with your track run! That's a lot of times around the oval! :)

treadmill is different because when you run on the ground you have to push yourself with a treadmill ur just moving yours legs not really pushing. Also treadmills are kind of bad for your knees and shins because your running on a very hard surface unless you buy the very expensive treadmills which have alittle more give to them. Also 10 miles in one hour is very very good, I am a college athlete and there are runner there that run maybe 14 miles a day and run 4:10 miles and 1:50 800 meter. A few of them when they were in highschool were top 5 in the nation for more then 2 events and they have alittle trouble doing that.

10 miles in an hour is nothing compared to a 10 mile run on the track. 10 miles in an hour is under 6 minute pace. thats fast. it is way harder on the ground. also if you want to run on the ground i suggest you dont run on the track because 40 laps is days. (really boring) you should find a ten mile course and do it instead.
