i read the book from the library and i just remembered something really interestin ursula said about aureliano buendia, that she realised that he was uncapable of loving...and that she should've figured it out because, before he was born, he was crying. it was somewhere near the end of the book.

if anyone has read the book and they could find this in it, would you please post it?

thanks

I read the book a decade ago and I cannot remember that particular passage. So I checked my copy this morning and sped-read through the last sixty pages (you did say "it was somewhere near the end of the book"), starting with Amaranta Ursula and Aureliano's beginnings. However, I didn't find the quotes you are looking for. Their conversations in the last two chapters were awfully scant. Most of what has happened were told only by the narrator. The following are just a few that I managed to dig up:

[After Ursula accidentally pricked her finger and Aureliano came to the rescue by sucking the wound with gusto]

"Aureliano!" She laughed, disturbed. "You're too suspicious to be a good bat."

[And later, when Aureliano confessed his deep feelings for her...]

"Fool!" she said as if she were spitting. "I'm sailing on the first ship leaving for Belgium."

[Last, when the couple finally got it going on...]

"What hurts me most," she would say, laughing, "is all the time that we wasted."

But then I could be wrong as the names of the characters (several Aurelianos, Ursulas and Remedioses) can be quite confusing. Sorry I can't be of much help. I surely tried.
