I asked a question about god and all i got was prostletizing and most people didn't even answer the question. I asked how they know god is good and to not use the bible to prove that because it's non-objective evidence. Also, not one person used the Old Testament, and one guy, a Muslim, tried to convince me that all the other "books" were corrupted by men, and only the Koran is the right book. If god knew this would happen, why bother with the other bibles? Still, another obviously bright person suggested I ask older people who have lived a long life what their beliefs are of god--I am an older person asking this question because with age, have come doubts based upon the sucky world. Religious wars, hatred within religions too.
Merry Christmas.

correct--in order to solidify their beliefs, based upon superstition, they have to prostletize and make their position yours. If they buy a Chevy, you should buy a Chevy, not a Ford.Jews respect Jesus but don't believe he was the son of god. Islam respects all religions but their practitioners don't show it all the time--even fighting between Shi'ites and Sunnis. The religious wars killed a lot of people and even the Germans singled out the Jews in WW2. In Ireland, Catholics fight Protestants and yadda yadda yadda. The only religions I know of that doesn't fight are the Buddhists and the Sikhs.

I hear ya. And it seems from some of the answers you have here again, the books are being quoted and no one is getting the message. They don't read.
But, as I seemed to have missed your last question, may I try this time without books or without trying to proselytizing? I have no reason to convert you to anything as... to be honest, I have nothing to offer you.
But, you know, standing outside this afternoon after coming back from trying to buy food while everyone else is making a mad dash for last minute "Holiday Gifts", I took a minute to reflect.
As I do live out in a rural area, we feed the wild birds, we have a pond with fish, and not too many people around. Standing outside the garage, the only sounds were of the wind blowing through the bare trees, the chattering of the birds helping themselves to the handouts, and the smell of damp leaves on the ground and wood smoke from the chimney.
The sounds of mayhem and traffic were left far behind. There was nothing more than a peaceful feeling left in its stead and all the rushing and crushing disappeared.
When you remove the man made elements, and you are left with only the things that we attribute to the Gods and Goddesses. Even when there are occasional storms or events that will cause you to respect nature, you still see that it's good. It may wash away some of the man made elements, but what remains is what the Gods put there to begin with.
It brings a peace to the soul that you can't get anywhere else.
And this afternoon, with my husbands kids and grandkids visiting, the laughter of family and young children was a very comforting feeling, that can only be considered good.
So, no, you don't need books to suggest that maybe the Gods are good, rather you have personal experience to suggest that things are not as bad as they could be, or have been and it is because of the things that we have received from the Gods.
I don't know if this fills your criteria, but it's an honest try.

With out the Bible why ask a question about God at all? Isn't that how one is to come to no God.. I don't know of any book that has with stood as much that man has dished out and still man can not show how it is wrong. Name one thing that the Bible has said was going to happen and it didn't come true. I no you asked not to use the bible.. But how can one prove some thing with out using the base of there belief to prove it with? I would have to say that I can understand the frustration with how man changes things in the Bible. I know I have four different Bibles and I just try and use them all. One must chose what path they take and I am sorry that you are feeling like you are at a spot in your life that your feeling lost.
I would have to say that you are 100% on it about all the Religious wars and hatred but on the flip side isn't that some proof that there is something much bigger then the both of us. A good and bad?
Sorry this isn't an answer I just had to say that.
I truly hope you find what you are looking for.

God our Heavenly Father is good. I know this from the changes that have happened in my life since allowing Him in. I am against organized religion as a whole because it has been corrupted by man. Man is responsible for the problems in the world today. Men start wars, although sometimes in the name of religion, but not always. God cannot be happy with what we have done in His Name. That's what happens when people put themselves first instead of God. I believe Jesus died to save us. He did that because God wanted everyone to have the chance to be with Him because He loves us.
God Bless you and Merry Christmas.

... and Merry Chritmas to you & your family, too
Some religious people see it as there task to let people know about their understanding of God. No Shintoists, Buddhists nor Taoists answered your last question. The Christians did not give a "Yoda or Frodo 3:16" referance that they see as a "Bible Quote" so they think they did kept to your condition.
The suffering you spoke of is of man against man. Sometimes, religion is used as an excuse (such as George W trying to get the guy that threatened his dad), but is only termed a "religious" war by politics distancing themselves from it.
Can I answer your "Proof of God" without Bible references?
If you can see common characteristics in things made, they must be characteriscis from the Creator (eg: a Singer or Author will not have contradictory traits ... unless there was plagerism)
Just as we seein Humans / animals / vegetation / minerals / atoms a similarity of 2 parts - Male and Female / or Positive charge and Negative charge (not good and bad, but North / South of a magnet).
That means God also has Male and Female attributes. He is one God, but has the harmonised personality of both male/female.
We also see the Mind / body, natural laws / matter or internal / external characteristics in everything.
That means God has Mind/body aspect. When we talk of His Power, we are talking of His external expression. When we talk of His love, that is the internal motivating force that guides His power.

I have to get to family Christmas activities ... take care and God bless. Enjoy your Christmas

My friend, I do know for sure! How I wish I could explain it to you so that you would understand. Only with personal study in both Testaments will you be able to know what I know.
I wrote this prayer immediately after I experienced God in my presence.
Jesus Christ my Savior,
Cleanse my Spirit that it remain Holy.
Keep my eyes focused on all that is of Our Creator.
Let my ears ring of His glory.
Let me breathe the perfume of all that is good.
Let me feel mercy upon His promised ones.
Guard my hand and my voice from all that is false and from all lies.
Make my heart as pure and tender as that of Your own.
Let my thoughts be only of service to Our Father.
Hold my Holy Spirit close sweet Jesus.
Protect me from all that is evil, my Lord.
Let my eyes see all that is ugly and call it evil.
Let my ears hear all that is vulgar and call it evil.
Let the stench of evil turn my head in disgust.
Let me show no mercy upon the wicked, they who work for the one that is evil.
For they have spoiled God’s creation!
They have created a world that reeks of ugliness and vulgarity.
The wrath of God is upon them.
Lord hear my prayer! Praise be to God!
